Fort Hays State University Accreditation Details

The Fort Hays State University is an accredited institution of higher learning by the Higher Learning Commission (HCA). The degrees offered give students the flexibility and convenience that professionals deserve. Lecturers taking on counseling courses are licensed by the Kansas state Department of Education. They are also required to have garnered at least 45 graduate hours before they are fully qualified.

Fort Hays State University Application Requirements

If students are attending Fort Hays State University for the first time, then it’s important for them to read through the admission requirements. These requirements are categorized into three parts that include freshman requirements, transfer students, and Adult Learner requirements.

Freshman Requirements

All freshmen within Kansas under the age of 21 are required to complete a pre-qualified admission and must have a minimum grade point of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale. They also need to be ranked top 1/3 in their high school graduating class and have a composite score of 21 on the ACT or an SAT score of 980 or above. Those who graduated from a non-accredited institution or were homeschooled need to meet the following qualifications:

  • They need to complete coursework that is equivalent to the Kansas Qualified Admission Pre-college Curriculum.
  • Achieve a GPA of 2.0 and an ACT score of 21/ SAT 980 or above from the Kansas Qualified Admission Pre-college Curriculum.
  • They should have enrolled for the course while in high school and achieved a GPA of 2.0 or above in the courses undertaken.

Those who obtained a GED and completed the test between the years 2002 – 2013 with a score of 510 on each sub-test and an overall score of 2550 are eligible to join as freshmen. For those who did the tests from 2014 until the present, they should have a minimum score of 150 on each sub-test and an overall score of 680 to be admitted.

Transfer students

Transfer students who want to enroll into the school need to have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale on the previous college work. For transfer students under the age of 21 and with fewer than 24 credit hours, require a cumulative GPA of 2.0 and must meet the freshman qualified admission requirement.

Adult Learner Requirements

Adult learners should meet the following requirements:

  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Have graduated from an accredited high school with an overall GED score of 680

Tuition and Financial Aid

Fort Hays State University believes that college education is essential, and, therefore, virtual learning begins with nationally ranked career online programs developed by a supportive staff. Taking this into account, they offer subsidized tuition fees that guarantee any student a good value for their money. Every degree-seeking graduate needs to pay $40 for admission fees as well as $253 for every credit hour. However, the amount for every credit hour will change depending on whether they are graduate MBA students, resident students, non-resident students or they are in a contiguous state.
