North Central University is an online university with a base in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The university was founded in 1996 as an online center of learning that aimed to connect students from many backgrounds and many countries. To apply to North Central University, students will need to have completed a high school diploma or a GED equivalent. Bachelor of Arts in Psychology

The Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology is designed to provide a general and basic understanding of psychology concepts to students. The aim of this program is to help students understand human behavior as well as learn to apply psychological principles in the modern, global world. This degree offers curriculum that meets the expectations for undergraduate degrees set by the American Psychology Association.

The goals of this program are to encourage both individual and academic growth in students. Students will be provided with the training they need to be a future professional, and they are treated as such. Students will spend time learning about the application of major concepts to real life scenarios and will be encouraged to learn through practice and self-reflection. The official intended learning outcomes are the following:

  • Students will obtain a broad base in general psychology from which they may draw upon in their field of specialization.
  • Students will be able to identify and apply basic concepts and research methods.
  • Students will hone their critical and analytical thinking skills.
  • Students will be able to apply basic principles to social, personal and organizational psychological issues.
  • Students will gain knowledge of the ethical issues in psychology and be able to understand the use of empirical evidence in the field.
  • Students will hone their information literacy skills and their communication skills through theory and practice.

Students are required to successfully complete 120 credit hours to complete their degree. These credit hours will be comprised of 30 credits of required courses as well as elective courses.

The final required project is titled the Capstone in Psychology. This course is designed to allow students to utilize all of their acquired knowledge during their undergraduate degree and integrate it into this course. Students will examine the current and future standing of a career in psychology and they will also begin to examine psychology as a science as well as its relationship to progress in other cultural fields.

This program is estimated to be completed in 51 months. The amount of time needed to complete the course is flexible and depends on the amount of time students need to complete all the courses. This can also vary depending on the amount of transfer credits and whether or not they are accepted by the school. This program is suitable for adults who are in employment, and the school will work with each student to make sure that the schedule for a degree program is suitable for their needs. To successfully complete the degree, students will need to have met the following requirements:

  • Successfully complete all 30 credits of the required courses
  • Maintain a GPA of 2.0
  • Ensure that all of their transfer credits are on file for the university
