Regent University was founded by Dr. Marion Gordon “Pat” Robertson in 1978. Dr. Robertson was the founder of the Christian Broadcasting Network, International Family Entertainment, Inc., the American Center for Law & Justice, the Christian Coalition and other Christian-based entities. Dr. Robertson envisioned a university of high-caliber that would attract leaders. Today, influential individuals have served as distinguished faculty and guest lecturers, including:

Regent University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. In addition, specific programs at the school are accredited as follows:

Regent University Application Requirements

Undergraduate students at Regent University must complete an online application and pay a non-refundable application fee. A signed Community Life Form which is part of the application must also be submitted along with official high school or college transcripts. If the student has been out of high school for less than five years, SAT/ACT scores must be provided.

An essay is required which must be typed, be between 300 and 500 words plus contain the student’s name, address, telephone number and email address.

Graduate school programs have different admission requirements. Students should discuss those requirements with an admissions counselor before applying.

Regent University Tuition and Financial Aid

Undergraduate full-time tuition at Regent University for students taking between 24 and 36 credits per year is $15,300 with fees of approximately $858. Graduate full-time tuition at Regent varies based on the program selected. Graduate tuition ranges from $4,690 to $35,335.

Financial aid is available at Regent University and 88 percent of students who attend the college receive assistance. Financial aid is awarded on an annual basis and students must complete the Free Application for Financial Aid (FAFSA) each year to qualify. There may also be scholarship application requirements on an annual basis as well.

Financial aid may be offered to students in the form of scholarships, grants, work study and loans. Students may qualify for federal or private student loans depending on their financial circumstances.

Regent University Online Degrees Available

Master of Arts in Clinical Health Counseling

Regent University offers a Master of Arts in Clinical Health Counseling that may be completed online. The program prepares students to become mental health counselors through courses in contemporary counseling with a solid Biblical foundation. Students are prepared for state licensure and a career as a professional counselor. The program is 60 credit hours and may be completed in as little as two years. Online students must participate in three instructional residencies. The residencies last for three weeks and are held on campus. Students are responsible for their own transportation, textbooks, hotel accommodations and some food costs. Lunch and two breaks are provided by the university as well as information on travel, lodging and meals.

Upon graduation, students are able to provide leadership in the integration of sound and ethical clinical practice and to promote the enhancement of self-awareness. Students will seek professional development and will obtain knowledge in the core areas of counseling knowledge. Students will be able to diagnose and treat psychological disorders while providing a comprehensive supervised clinical experience to those in need.

Master of Arts in School Counseling

Regent University offers a Master of Arts in School Counseling that prepares students for Virginia requirements to become a school counselor. The program provides a rigorous curriculum that combine counseling techniques with a biblical focus so that students develop a spiritual balance in their counseling careers. The program prepares students for state licensure as a professional school counselor. The program is 60 credit hours and three residencies, lasting three weeks each, are required on campus in order to complete the program.

Students will be prepared for a career in school counseling within the K-12 public school system. They will develop the skills necessary to provide leadership to youth using biblically based values and sound clinical practices. Graduates will develop skills in human growth and development as well as social and family systems. Cultural foundations will also be discussed based on their impact on a child’s mental health. Students will learn to help relationships, work with groups, appraise children in a school setting and guide young people in career development.
