Pace University is a private university in New York City with additional campuses in Westchester Couty. There are more than 13,000 students enrolled in the school, and there are bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs available. The school is made of the College of Health Professions, Lubin School of Business, Dyson College of Arts and Sciences, School of Law, School of Education and the Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Systems.

Pace University was founded in 1906 and served as a location for liberal arts education. The university was small and rented facilities from other New York City located until after World War II, when it began to place an emphasis on both liberal arts and sciences. Under new leadership and new management, Pace was able to leave the rented facilities and soon grew to one of the largest universities in the state.

Pace University Accreditation Details

Pace University is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. The university is also accredited by the American Psychology Association and Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers.

Pace University Application Requirements

Students who wish to apply to Pace University must submit an application and a $50 application fee. Students can apply online or via a paper application. Along with the application, a student must send two letters of recommendation from a counselor or teacher who can attest to their personal characteristics and academic potential.

Applicants must also present a written essay or personal statement, which helps to assist admission counselors in reviewing the application. The statement must be original and must fall into a certain list of topics and criteria. Potential students must also submit a transcript and official SAT or ACT test scores.

Those who apply to the Pace University graduate school must also fill out an application and submit a $70 application fee. Two letters of recommendation are also necessary, though the following programs require three letters of recommendation:

• PsyD in School-Clinical Child Psychology
• PhD in Mental Health Counseling
• MSEd in School Psychology
• MSEd in Bilingual School Psychology

Graduate school applicants must also submit a resume and personal statement as well as official transcripts from all colleges the applicant has attended. Students must also submit GRE scores that are from the past five years.

Tuition and Financial Aid at Pace University

The cost of tuition for undergraduate students in the 2015 to 2016 school year was $39,728 for the New York campus. In addition, there is a standard fee of $1,553 and room and board is $17,938.

For graduate students, tuition for Pace University ranges from $1,100 per credit to $1,205.

Financial aid is available for both undergraduate and graduate students and is available in many forms including grants, scholarships, federal work study and loans. Graduate students also have the option of doing an assistantship, which goes towards tuition. The university-sponsored financial aid at Pace University are awarded based on academic merit, financial need and service.

Psychology and Counseling Degrees Available from Pace University

Pace University offers a bachelor of arts degree in psychology, which will give students a broad-based education to either start a career in the field or go on to graduate studies. The BA in psychology helps to develop students by teaching information such as statistics, experimental psychology, cognitive science, the history of psychology and social psychology. Students will also get a liberal arts education that they can use to enhance their experience.

There is also a master’s degree in psychology available from Pace University. This program will help students to further improve their expertise in psychology and then how to use it to improve the stance of their career in a number of professional settings. These include in hospitals, organizational management, forensic psychology, and in vocational agencies. Students will also be well prepared to enter into a doctoral program either at Pace University or at another doctoral program that is accredited by the American Psychology Association.

Pace University also has a PsyD program in School-Clinical Child Psychology. This degree will give students the ability to work in a school or open their own practice upon graduation. This program will fully integrate academic work with field experience in a local school. Students will be trained in a number of psychological foundations including how to assess and evaluate patients, intervention procedures and remediation. Students will also be fully prepared to sit for the psychology licensing exam for New York State.

All of the psychology programs at Pace University are through the Dyson College of Arts and Sciences. This ensures that all students, including undergraduates, have access to research opportunities and to learn under a faculty that is world-class. There is an opportunity for internships at all levels, and all students who show academic excellence will be invited to join the psychology honorary, Psi Chi. The experiences through Psi Chi include the opportunity for workshops, colloquia, and attending special lectures.
