Indian River State College offers a Bachelor of Science in Human Services. This undergraduate degree provides students the opportunity to choose from three concentrations: Generalist; Youth and Family; and Addiction Studies. Students will learn through coursework and practical training how to work effectively with individuals and families across the lifespan. Graduates of this program will be well positioned to secure employment in the field of human services and/or to pursue a graduate degree.
Courses include: Humanistic and Existential Counseling Theory; Trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder; Family Systems and Dynamics; Administration in Human Services; Cognitive and Behavioral Theory; Sexual Abuse of Children and Adolescents; Addictive Experiences; Introduction to Play Therapy; Crisis Intervention; Issues in Domestic Abuse and Family Violence; Youth, Drugs and Gangs; and Gender Issues in Treatment and Recovery.
