Psychology Undergraduate

Immaculata University offers an undergraduate Psychology degree that prepares students for entry-level positions in business, education or social service agencies. Students gain an understanding of psychology as well as research methods used in the industry. Although not required, internships are highly recommended in order for students to gain practical experience. Students learn methods of integrating psychology and spirituality as well as how to test anxiety based on perceptions and recognizing self-defeating cognitions.

Clinical Mental Health Counseling M.A.

The Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling is a 60-credit program that meets requirements for licensure in the field. Students are provided instruction on how to help relationships, working with groups, research, and program evaluation. Students gain an understanding of diagnosis, treatment planning, trauma, substance abuse, psychopathology and practice management issues. Students take the National Counselor Examination on campus in April or October. Courses required may include group dynamics, psychopathology, clinical skills seminar and biological bases of behavior. An internship is required to complete the program. The Immaculata University Psychology Internship Consortium provides internship opportunities. The consortium is a cooperative training program that partners with agencies and organizations within commuting distance of Immaculata. Students are able to personalize their course of study to best suit their career goals. To apply for the program, students must hold a master’s degree or higher with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Students with a bachelor’s degree in psychology or related field with an undergraduate GPA of 3.3 may apply. Students must complete the application and provide official transcripts from all universities and colleges attended. Students must provide three references, a personal goal statement as well as MAT or GRE scores.

Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology

The Doctorate in Psychology program with an emphasis in Clinical Psychology provides students with an understanding of psychotherapy, psychodiagnostics and other areas of clinical psychology treatment. Research skills are emphasized and student’s complete independent projects under the direction of highly-qualified faculty. All programs are created on an individual basis and an evening program is available so that working adults can achieve their higher education goals. Students are able to work toward their doctorate degree and earn a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology. Students must complete an application and pay an admittance fee. Official transcripts from all colleges and universities must be provided. Students must also provide three references, a personal goals statement, and official MAT or GRE scores.

Immaculata University has been providing outstanding education based in Catholic believes for almost 100 years. Students develop leadership skills based in Christian belief that help them succeed in their chosen field of study. Immaculata University also offers online and continuing education through the College of Lifelong Learning designed especially for working adults who may have barriers that keep them from attending traditional classroom settings, allowing them to achieve their education goals and move into a new career or advance in a current career.

In 1920, the Congregational Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, founded Villa Maria College. The Sister’s had purchased the site in 1906 and broke ground for Villa Maria Hall in 1908. Classes began in 1914, but the institution was not granted college status until 1920. It was the first Catholic women’s college in Philadelphia. The name officially became Immaculata College in 1929.

The college grew gradually but consistently. From the beginning, students were provided rigorous academics with a Catholic basis, creating graduates who are prepared for leadership. In 1969, Immaculata added an evening division program that accepted both men and women. In 1974, the college opened a continuing education department to provide opportunities for the working female population.

In 2002, Immaculata College was granted university status and became Immaculata University. There are approximately 900 traditional undergraduates, 600 adult undergraduates and more than 1,000 graduate students attending Immaculata University.

Immaculata University Accreditation Details

Immaculata University is accredited by the Commission of Higher Education Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Accreditation indicates that the school voluntarily undergoes reassessment periodically to confirm that they offer rigorous academics that prepare students for leadership roles. In addition, programs throughout the university are accredited by the following agencies:

Immaculata University Application Requirements

Applicants who have not earned college credit after graduating from high school are considered freshmen at Immaculata University. They must complete either an Immaculata application or the Common Application. Official high school transcripts and SAT or ACT scores are also required. Students must complete an essay and provide recommendations. Some academic programs require additional application materials such as portfolios.

Students who have earned college credit after high school graduation may enter as transfer students. Transfer students must provide official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended. Students with less than 24 college credits must also submit official high school transcripts as well as SAT or ACT scores. An application is required as well as a conduct certification form.

Students who wish to attend the College of Lifelong Learning must apply for admission online and send official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended. Students with less than 24 credit hours after high school graduation must also submit official high school transcripts.

Graduate applicants must complete either a paper on online application. Requirements for admission to graduate programs may vary depending on the program chosen. Students are encouraged to speak to a graduate admissions counselor before applying.

Immaculata University Tuition and Financial Aid

Full-time undergraduate tuition at Immaculata University is $26,500 per year. The College of Lifelong Learning tuition is $540 per credit hour. Graduate tuition fees per credit hour are as follows:

Financial aid is available and is provided to any student who demonstrated financial need. Aid may be offered in the form of scholarships, grants, loans or work-study. Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to qualify for any assistance from Immaculata University.
