Founded on January 27, 1785, University of Georgia was not established until 1801 when John Milledge purchased 633 acres of land in northeast Georgia and gave it to the board of trustees. The university rapidly grew throughout its history, and today it consists of 17 colleges and schools with auxiliary divisions offering degree programs in the arts and sciences, pharmacology, business, journalism and communication, social work, veterinary medicine, education, forestry, and more.

University of Georgia Accreditation Details
University of Georgia is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) for all of its baccalaureate, masters, specialist, and doctoral degrees. Additionally, many of University of Georgia’s individual programs and units possess specialized accreditation recognized by the US Department of Education, the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), and the Association of Specialized and Professional Accreditors (ASPA). University of Georgia Application Requirements
Application requirements vary depending on a prospective student’s status. Prospective students are categorized as one of five types of students:
- First-Year Applicants
- First-Year International
- Transfer Applicants
- Transfer International Applicants
- Other Applicants
Individuals interested in applying must sign up for an online account, submit the appropriate application along with a non-refundable $60 application fee for domestic applicants or $75 application fee for international applicants. Prospective students will then have to forward high school transcripts and test scores along with any college transcripts for consideration. The application can be submitted online or via mail.
Tuition and Financial Aid
Tuition and fees to attend University of Georgia are as follows annually:
- $11,634 – Tuition for Georgia Residents
- $29,844 – Tuition of Out of State Resident
Costs associated with attendance, such as books, supplies, and living expenses are estimated at $4,958 per year for Georgia residents or $5,668 per year for Out of State Residents.
Financial Aid available to students attending University of Georgia include grants, scholarships, loans, and federal work study. After utilizing the Free Application for Federal Financial Aid (FAFSA), students can apply for a plethora of scholarships including the Hope Scholarship, the Georgia Access Scholarship, the Georgia Hero Scholarship, and others. – Bachelor of Business Administration Online
This degree programs offers a broad knowledge base to students interested in pursuing a career in the private or public sector as managers or entrepreneurs. Total cost of this Bachelor’s degree is estimated between $29,886 and $38,878.
– Bachelor’s of Science in Special Education
Students interested in becoming a special education teacher for grades K-12 will learn concepts and skills that will prepare them to teach students with mild and moderate disabilities. The total estimated cost of this online degree program is $4,682 per semester, plus student fees and expenses.
– Low-Residency Master of Fine Arts in Narrative Media Writing
Students can earn their Master of Fine Arts in just two years while writing a non-fiction manuscript or marketable screenplay. It is designed to train writers to be published or produced. Total cost for this online Master’s degree program is $38,409.
– Master of Avian Health and Medicine
Designed for veterinarians interested in becoming recognized experts in the rapidly growing international poultry industry, this program is recognized by the American College of Poultry Veterinarians (ACPV) and total program cost is $48,870.
– Master of Education in Adult Education
This online Master’s degree program offers students the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed as instructors and teachers in the social context of adult education. Total cost for this program is $24,339.
– Master of Education in Educational Psychology, Applied Cognition and Development
This program explores the impact of human motivational, developmental, and cognitive processes in education and practice. UGA’s online Master’s in Educational Psychology programs are ranked #2 in the nation. Total cost for this program: $24,968.
– Master of Education in Educational Psychology, Gifted and Creative Education
Based on the philosophy that genius and creativity are expressed in myriad ways in different people, this degree program gives students the knowledge and skills necessary to tailor education of gifted individuals to their unique needs and interests to develop talents. Total cost for this degree program is $26,855.
– Master of Education in Human Resources and Organizational Development
This innovative online Master’s degree program arms students with novel, effective strategies and ideologies to cope with today’s challenging, ever-changing organizational development and Human Resources issues. Total cost for this degree program is $24,339.
Also included in UGA’s list of online offerings are five other specialized M.ED. programs ranging from Gifted and Creative Education to Workforce Education and Reading Education, and UGA’s online Master of Music Education program caters to currently certified music teachers who are interested in enhancing their research and practitioner skills.
Two Master of Science degree programs are offered online at University of Georgia: a Master of Science in Pharmacy, BioPharma Regulatory Affairs and a Master of Science in Financial Planning, Housing and Consumer Economics, both of which prepare students to excel in their chosen field with highly specialized knowledge and skills. Students can choose from a Thesis or non-thesis path to a Master’s degree in either of these online Master of Science programs.
Unique among their online offerings is UGA’s online Master of Internet Technology, which combines IT knowledge with project management experience to provide students with an excellent path to entrepreneurship or technology company management.
