Founded on January 27, 1785, University of Georgia was not established until 1801 when John Milledge purchased 633 acres of land in northeast Georgia and gave it to the board of trustees. University of Georgia is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) for all of its baccalaureate, masters, specialist, and doctoral degrees. Additionally, many of University of Georgia's individual programs and units possess specialized accreditation recognized by the US Department of Education, the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), and the Association of Specialized and Professional Accreditors (ASPA). University of Georgia Application Requirements
Application requirements vary depending on a prospective student's status. Prospective students are categorized as one of five types of students:
- First-Year Applicants
- First-Year International
- Transfer Applicants
- Transfer International Applicants
- Other Applicants
Individuals interested in applying must sign up for an online account, submit the appropriate application along with a non-refundable $60 application fee for domestic applicants or $75 application fee for international applicants. Prospective students will then have to forward high school transcripts and test scores along with any college transcripts for consideration. The application can be submitted online or via mail.
